barleybase This is an incredible album! More or less a saga, a tale told with epic grandeur. Awesome synths accompany strings that both drive the story and the compositions forward. There's black metal elements woven through, and they are reminiscent of Summoning in the best ways. Lore and vocal tracks are mixed in and complete the immersion. Definitely check this out. Favorite track: The Knight Forgotten to History.

Prologue: In the age of Dragons, the one by the name of Morodenithrall, destroyed the grand elven temple of Geruntunthop and all those within it. This event would be the one to start the war of the Crag Kings. The Elves reached out to the other races for aid and assistance, and were answered by all those who were called upon. Among them was Skrolgräd, king of humanity and the first wizard Cirwyn, who came with a way to slay the dragon. Skrolgräd: I, king Skrolgräd, come to your side my elves. The scene of destruction pains my soul. I come with my wizard, Who proposes a way to slay this evil for good. A sword forged from the essence of Sil’vir, The Skilthian sword shall end this fowl beast for good! So take your arms and prepare for battle. The time will come, for you and me to battle, A dragon, a beast, a subterranean devil, For revenge, for glory and to end this evil. No more will fear grip hold of our people. Together is how we will end this dragon. Now link arms with me and all of my people. My armies shall search for this fiery evil. I will be the one to slay this dragon, I will be the one to slay this dragon, Equipped with my sword, no taint of evil Shall even compare to my cold steel.

The hunt begins: And so the hunt for Morodenithrall began. As Cirwyn prepared the Skilthian swords, Skrolgräd’s armies, now united with the elves, scoured the lands for years. Skrolgräd: Come my men, to find the dragon we march. On and over the hills, to scour the land we march. We must not waver and search all parts. The cracks in the ground and the cliffs and the rocks. Oh, this dragon will be found and stopped. Farlund: My king! My liege! The dragon! It’s tracks, I believe I know where it’s gone. The tracks, They lead, Northwest they did. The caves of loom is the spot! Skrolgräd: What’s your name soldier? Farlund Barley, a squire to a Knight. Many a thanks to you my boy. You’ve earned yourself a spot. Onward! To the caves of loom we go! The dragon, it hides itself In there And that is where we’ll come to blows. Come my men, to find the dragon we march. On and over the hills, to scour the land we march. We must not waver and search all parts. The crack in the ground and the cliffs and the rocks. Oh, this dragon will be found and stopped.

Entering the caves of loom: It has been years since the burning of Geruntunthop, and Morodenithrall has finally been found. Deep in the caves of loom the beast lies in wait, with Skrolgräd’s army now entering the dominion of flame. Skrolgräd: My wizard has returned With blade forge in Sil’vir. Worry not my men for the dragon’s reign ends here! I, king Skrolgräd, will cut down this beast And then I shall bring forth an era of peace. Elves and men, United as one. I shall bring glory to everyone. The taste of my steel, Of enchanted ilk, Shall bring forth the blood Of this hot, flaming beast. Onward! Now I can see, This dominion of flame The dragon has made Deep down in these caves. Steady yourselves My men have no fear! These fires are just that A flame to extinguish. So keep moving on, And watch where you go, These flames are not forgiving Pray keep them unknown. The battle awaits, We must be prepared, My blade can taste the blood of the dragon below! Armies of Skrolgräd: Into the deep we all go, Facing the dragon Held below. Have faith my brothers Together we go Headstrong with vigilance And power in tow. Into the deep we all go, Facing the dragon Held below. Have faith my brothers Together we go Headstrong with vigilance And power in tow. Skrolgräd: I can smell the dragons breath! I can see the flames in its eyes! Right around the corner it hides from me. We must hurry, for glory I scream! Not another waisted moment. My blade is ready To rip its life from him.

Face to face: Now face to face, Skrolgräd asks his men to hold back. Drawing his sword he charges, thinking himself able to take the dragon Morodenithrall on alone. The dragon is quick and lunges faster than anticipated, knocking skrolgräd to the ground. Quickly he gets up from the floor and screams attack! Skrolgräd: Crushing through my men, the dragon, it moves with ease, like nothing. I stand up and charge once again. Only to be knocked back again. Slashing with my sword. Bodies coated in flame. Where have I brought my men. Surely it won’t end this way. Flashes of light in the caves. Blinding in every way. What devil is wrought upon us. This dragon I can not slay. I swing my sword, A stroke of luck. A limb has been lopped off. I must move quick And take this chance. Before recovery I must advance. Knocked to the floor again! The dragon raises its wings, The wind, it sends me sprawling. My men are dwindling still. I must continue to fight. Slashing with my sword. Bodies coated in flame. Where have I brought my men. Surely it won’t end this way. Flashes of light in the caves. Blinding in every way. What devil is wrought upon us. This dragon I can not slay. Knocked to the floor, Over and over again. Sword strewn from my hand. This day I cannot save. My men have been scattered, Torn asunder, stripped away. The dragon is face to face, It’s breath is putrid and heat washes over me. But just then, One soldier, Rises from the floor. That man, was Farlund Barley Clutching my fallen sword. That man, He pierce the dragon While it was not looking. That man, He slayed the dragon Stealing my glory!

Release of Bör: Farlund Barley perished that day. To pierce a dragon often ends in flame and this is what happened to Farlund. As Farlund’s body turned to ash, King Skrolgräd stood, taking his sword and proclaiming that he had just slain the dragon! What men were left alive had not seen what happened, the flash of flame was too strong. Only Skrolgräd was left with this secret. Skrolgräd: My men, We have done it! I have vanquished the dragon! No more, Shall elves live in fear, For Morodenithrall Is no more, I will start this age of peace A uniting of elves and man. No one can stand in opposition We are victorious just as I’d said. No one shall know my secret. Farlund Barley no longer exists. Ashes to ashes Bury the dust. I am the one who slayed the dragon.

about

The death of Morodenithrall was the beginning of the war of the crag kings. The old king Skrollgrad claimed to be the one to slay the dragon, but truth may not be all that it seems.
